That comfort zone ...
Yesterday, our morning began with the financial worries typical of January. Like many others, I felt frustrated about unexpected expenses and the rising costs of various items. Usually, that frames the day, with sullen sulking conversations and mindset.
We were fortunate to have already scheduled a walk, as the weather forecast was promising for the time of year. I'm truly grateful that we overcame our initial hesitations, packed some homemade cheese rolls and muffins, brewed hot coffee, laced up our boots, and made the 50-minute drive to Gower Peninsula.
Lunchtime view.
After some heart-pounding hills and a wonderful walk, we found the best bench with an outstanding view of Three Cliff Bay. There, we sat. The financial worries and daily stresses had faded into the background, replaced by a sense of achievement, gratitude, and contentment.
The positive atmosphere lingered, and later, as we prepared dinner together, we talked about how stepping away from our daily routines and immersing ourselves in the calming embrace of nature, despite the angst, led to such clarity and peace.
The walk rejuvenated our spirits and strengthened our bond, reminding us of the importance of shared experiences and the power of nature to heal and inspire. Set aside the mundane and tedious aspects of life for just a moment; really, it works.
We can't always control our circumstances, but we can choose how we respond to them. We need to step outside our comfort zones, put in the effort, try something new, and broaden our perspectives as often as reasonably possible. Safety in the normal is okay sometimes, but we have to push through when the mind is tripping into drudgery.
On January 1st, I expressed my desire for an "ordinary" year—filled with the simple joys of morning coffee, good books, evening walks, hearty conversations, and holding hands. This rhythm of life, which often feels mundane, is the heartbeat of all that is beautiful. May you have the best ordinary year ever. Yesterday was full of that - with an extra push to make that walk a little further away, different and inspiring.
We get to have this day—walk with me, and may we journey together. With others, we will flourish, and our well-being will bloom, for we are not meant to be alone. Each day, new exciting opportunities are calling your name, and I want to share with you the most delightful one.
As the sands of time gracefully dance, ushering in this new year, I beckon you toward an alternate journey that celebrates the intricate tapestry of your essence rather than dwelling in angst. Join me in my writing circle (a rolling program)—immerse yourself in a realm brimming with warmth and wonder, where solitude is dispelled and creativity flourishes. It serves as a delightful remedy for the January blues, nurturing your well-being splendidly.
It’s not the pursuit of perfection in writing that matters; it’s the act of pouring your heart onto the page. It’s about being acknowledged, resonating with others, and belonging to a greater magical tapestry. How wonderful in its simplicity, my writing circle is - full of “awe” and shared experience.
Step boldly beyond the boundaries of your comfort zone and transform this Winter into a season of warmth and connection by joining my circle—after all, what have you to lose?
Finally, I want to bring you a little love, this first week of January 2025:
You being you,
you being here,
being you is never too much.
You being you
is how it should be.
Your being here
I love you for that
why be
anyone else but you.
