Light up your Winter

“We need to deepen our intimacy not only with the land around us but also with the landscape within us,” says Mar y Reynolds-Thompson. This resonates with me so much.

I watched the buzzard circle the golden sunrise sky. This sound of the buzzard, effortlessly sentinel of the skies, observing the world with a keen eye, illuminated by the colours of the sky, grounded me.

Trees stand bare, branches etched against the pale winter sky, suggesting a rest period; we sigh. I think, “Head in the clouds and feet on the ground,” and laugh. So often, since moving to the country, I have sought the anchor of nature.

The gentle rustling of leaves, the comforting embrace of a warm breeze, and the vibrant colours have become my refuge. Each morning, I wander through the lanes, feeling the dew on my face and finding solace in its quiet wisdom. The countryside has taught me to appreciate the simple joys—watching the sun rise behind rolling hills, listening to birds' melodic calls, and witnessing the Fieldfare's dance across Winter Fields.  It's here, amidst the tranquil beauty, that I find balance and a renewed sense of wonder.

In this serene sanctuary, time seems to slow, allowing me to reflect on the simple joys of life. Here, the worries of life fade away, replaced by a profound appreciation for the world around me—so much so that I struggle to get to my desk on time!

“You should sit in nature for twenty minutes a day. If you are busy, then sit for an hour”

Nature has become my anchor that stops my mind from being swept away by life, and it has become part of creativity – from which I simplify that moment:

Misty morning eased my mind

Seems to say, be gentle, be kind.

Silhouetted trees gracefully stand

As cold whispers across the land.

So, I am very excited to launch” Light up your January.” It will be a series of Daily messages of lightness to illuminate your January days. Though January may stretch like a long and cold veil, enveloping us in its chill, my gift is a daily email brimming with warmth and inspiration that will illuminate even the greyest days. Click on the pink link for this –on the home page of my website- as it requires your email to sign up for it even if you get my newsletter/blog, as it’s a different email list. I know!

Always,

Julie B
